In October, Broward Urban River Trails joined friends and family
in saying goodbye and thank you to Bill Keith, who enriched the
lives of all he met.
A man of integrity, humor, and courage, Bill exhibited all of
those qualities a multitude of times in a host of civic,
professional, and personal achievements. As a lifetime Southeast
Floridian, he became, in 1956, a professional surveyor and
mapper. Bill was a principal with Wiggins, Keith & Associates,
and later the founder of Keith and Schnars, P.A. in Fort
Lauderdale. In 1998, he established the Pompano Beach-based
engineering, planning, and surveying firm of Keith and
Associates, Inc.
Despite demands of his professional life, Bill found time to
become one of the founders of Broward Urban River Trails, and
since its inception more than decade ago remained a steadfast
supporter of the organization. As did so many in the community,
BURT often relied on Bill for advice and counsel, which he gave
freely and enthusiastically.
His vision, his leadership, his drive, and his ability to make
things happen, has played a pivotal role in the growth of
Broward Urban River Trails. Our continuing efforts to preserve,
protect, and enhance the waterways that are so important to our
community owe much to Bill Keith.
For that reason, we are proposing to the City and County
commissions that Site 125 on Fort Lauderdale's New River -- to
which Bill was particularly devoted -- be named in his honor.
We miss you, Bill. We will always miss you. |
